Aaron Rodgers’ mouth has gotten him into a lot of controversies, and his latest incident has proved it during the ongoing talks between the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers.

Last month, Aaron Rodgers announced that he wants to play for the Jets, but no trade is any closer than now than it was when he made that announcement.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Jets have been turned off a bit as they are worried about giving up so much for Rodgers because he said he was “90 percent retired” prior to entering his darkness retreat.

“And I guess…if we’re going to do the whole thing of ‘Whose court is the ball in?’ I guess it’s in the Jets’ court, but the problem with that is that for the Jets it’s at a standstill,” Robinson said, via Sports Illustrated. “They’re saying no we’re not doing the straight-shot one. And I think what [Jets owner] Woody Johnson’s problem is with this is that he looks at Denver and all the assets Denver gave up [for Russell Wilson] … now Seattle is sitting on Denver’s pick at No. 5 because that crashed and burned. I think some of it is the Matt Stafford thing, and now he has a balky elbow … and now Detroit is sitting at six. … They sort of had trade parameters worked out, and then when Aaron went on [The Pat McAfee Show] and said ‘I’m 90% retired’ or ‘I was 90% retired when I went into the darkness retreat,’ I think it scared Woody.”

The Green Bay Packers reportedly are demanding a 2023 second-round pick and 2024 first-round pick from New York in exchange for Rodgers. They are willing to send something back to them for 2025 should Rodgers only pay for one year.

However, owner Woody Johnson of the Jets has been unwilling to give up their first-round draft pick, so that has left both sides in this standstill where no movement or talks have been going on because of both sides being dug in on their stance.

The 2022 season ended in disappointment for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers after they lost to division-rival Detroit Lions and got eliminated from playoff contention. Green Bay’s Week 18 loss to the Lions was a microcosm of Rodgers and the Packers’ 2022 season. While he and they showed flashes of brilliance, Rodgers and the Packers ultimately came up short against the Lions in a game Green Bay needed to win to make the playoffs.

No one knew at the time that it would be his final game. The Packers are ready to get 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love under center and find out if they have their next stud QB.

In his final season, Rodgers logged 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 17 starts.
